Strategos is the first scientific journal in the Republic of Croatia established for the purpose of monitoring and publishing scientific and other papers in the interdisciplinary scientific field of military-defence and security-intelligence sciences and practices.
One of the main goals of the journal is to encourage scientifically grounded discussion on military, defence and security-related issues. Strategos plays a key role in the continued development of military-defence sciences, as well as in revitalising and advancing military education in the Republic of Croatia. It stands as evidence of efforts aimed not only at improving the education of future members of the Croatian Armed Forces, but also at fostering other experts, scientific research, and projects in the field of security and defence.
The first issue of Strategos – Croatia’s first military-scientific journal – published by the Croatian Defence Academy "Dr. Franjo Tuđman", was presented on 15 March 2017. This marked the beginning of a new dimension in the Academy’s activities and the continuation of its full integration into both domestic and international scientific communities.
With the signing of the Agreement on Co-Publishing of the scientific journal Strategos, as of October 2024, the journal continues its scientific and publishing development under the University of Defence and Security "Dr. Franjo Tuđman", in continued cooperation with its founding institution, the Croatian Defence Academy "Dr. Franjo Tuđman".
Strategos is published twice a year and features original scientific, professional and review papers, preliminary communications, theoretical discussion articles, empirically oriented research, as well as innovative methodological studies covering a wide range of interdisciplinary scientific topics related to military, defence and security matters. This journal brings together various perspectives, approaches and fields of scientific interest. Such a comprehensive approach is essential for addressing the challenges posed by today’s dynamic and unpredictable security environment. Strategos represents the creation of a framework for the systematic monitoring and analysis of a broad range of topics within its scientific domain.
As a relevant platform for promoting science, excellence, new ideas and insights through an interdisciplinary approach to defence and security-related topics, Strategos serves as a cornerstone of the scientific research and professional activity of the University of Defence and Security "Dr. Franjo Tuđman".
