The EMILYO programme (European Initiative for the Exchange of Young Officers), also known as the “Military Erasmus”, is a European initiative that promotes mobility and knowledge exchange among cadets of military academies from various EU countries. The aim of the programme is to enable student and staff exchanges between military educational institutions, thereby enhancing the academic and professional training of future military officers.

Through EMILYO, cadets can participate in various programmes, study abroad, and attend specialised courses that foster cooperation in the military and defence sector. This programme enhances interoperability among EU armed forces and encourages joint educational activities in areas such as security policy, crisis management, and leadership in complex environments.

The programme also includes joint training sessions, the exchange of best practices, and the development of common military modules, allowing cadets to gain a deeper understanding of different national defence systems and expand their professional networks within the EU.
