Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements

Applicants are expected to achieve high results during secondary school education and on the national final exams (state matura). The admission ranking list is based on points awarded according to academic performance in secondary school and results from the state matura exams.

Admission Requirements

In order to be included on the ranking list, candidates must:

  1. have completed a four-year secondary school
  2. have passed all mandatory subjects of the state matura
  3. have passed the A level in English on the state matura
    (if another foreign language is taken as the mandatory subject in the state matura, the candidate must also register for and pass English as an elective subject)
  4. submit an application to one of the public competitions (competition for admission to the cadet service of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia, scholarship competition of the Ministry of the Interior, or the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure) published on the official website of the respective ministry
  5. apply for the desired study programme at www.postani-student.hr
  6. apply to the competition of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia for admission to the cadet service and successfully pass the selection process of the Ministry of Defence, which includes medical, psychophysical, and security criteria.*

*Special admission requirements are prescribed by the Regulation on Determining Health, Psychological, Physical, and Security Requirements for Admission to the Service of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia (NN 13/14, NN 134/15, NN 137/15), the Regulation on the Procedure for Recruitment, Announcement, and Selection for Admission to Active Military Service and Cadet Service (NN 158/13, 77/15, 14/17), and the Regulation on Determining Medical Fitness for Military Service (NN 42/14, NN 134/15, NN 109/16, and NN 97/17).

Public Competition

The public competition for admission to the cadet service of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Croatia, as well as public competitions for scholarships of the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, are usually published at the beginning of March.

  • Grade point average of all subjects in secondary school – 30%

State Matura

  • Croatian Language (B – basic level) – 20%
  • Mathematics (A – higher level) – 25%
  • English Language (A – higher level) – 25%
Military Leadership and Management

Secondary School Grades

  • Grade point average of all subjects in secondary school – 30%

State Matura

  • Croatian Language (A – higher level) – 25%
  • Mathematics (B – basic level) – 20%
  • English Language (A – higher level) – 25%
Military Maritime Studies

Secondary School Grades

  • Grade point average of all subjects in secondary school – 10%

State Matura

  • Croatian Language – 20%
  • Mathematics (B – basic level) – 35%
  • English Language (A – higher level) – 35%
