Course Description

Acquiring knowledge about the basic characteristics of combat branches, combat support branches and services of the Armed Forces. Point out the importance of their integration (combination) in the entire spectrum of tactical level operations.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Recognize the mutual integration of combat branches and combat support branches.
  2. Identify and analyze more complex problems in the military environment.
  3. Explain the role of each branch/service in the entire spectrum of tactical level operations.
  4. Assess the effectiveness and need for joint forces within tactical level operations.
  5. Recognize the combat and non-combat assets of the branches and services of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia.
  6. Produce the results of complex work in oral and written form to stakeholders in a military environment in a clear and comprehensible manner.

Obligatory presence.

Discussion of doctrinal documents and analysis of war games.

Partial e-learning

Minor independent work between lectures and preparation for the next lecture via e-learning.

Multimedia and the internet

Monitoring of current affairs from the development of military doctrines and technologies.

Additional topics according to the special interest of the participants.

  1. Lectures: Introduction to the subject. History of the development of branches and services of the Armed Forces. Branches and services of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. Exercises: Analysis of the current organization of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia.
  2. Lectures: Doctrine of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. Planning operations in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. Exercises: Analysis of the document ZDP-1 Doctrine of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. Analysis of document ZDP-5 Planning of operations.
  3. Lecture: Joint operations of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia. Allied Joint Doctrine. Exercises: Analysis of document ZDP-30 Combined operations. Analysis of document AJP-01 Allied Joint Doctrine.
  4. Lecture: Doctrine of land forces. Exercises: Analysis of document DPK-01 Doctrine of land forces.
  5. Lecture: Doctrine of land forces. 1st colloquium.
  6. Lecture: Critical path analysis (CPA) in military operations. War games. Exercises: Creation of network diagrams, critical path and optimization. Practical implementation of the war game.
  7. Lecture: War games. Exercises: Practical implementation of the war game.
  8. Lectures: GEOMETOC (Geographic-Meteorological-Oceanographic) support for military operations. Exercises: Practical implementation of the war game. Developing GEOMETOC tools for tactical decision-making.
  9. Lectures: GEOMETOC (Geographic-Meteorological-Oceanographic) support for military operations. Mission command. Exercises: Developing GEOMETOC tools for tactical decision-making. An analysis of the ADP 6-0 Mission Command document.
